How do I set up iCalendar feeds?

IMPORTANT: To set up this feature, your property listing must be online bookable (OLB enabled) and use Bookabach online payments (OLP enabled).

What iCalendar does:

iCalendar allows users to create and share electronic calendars.  This helps provide a consolidated view across platforms to help make sure your property’s availability is up-to-date which can help reduce the likelihood of double bookings.  The iCalendar format is supported by many companies and programs.

What is Import vs Export?

The importing feature enables you to import external calendars into Bookabach (up to 10 channels).

The exporting feature lets you export Confirmed bookings on your Bookabach calendar and availability to other companies and programs.

Both features aim to provide consolidated calendar and availability view across platforms and programs.

Exporting your Bookabach calendar

To export your Bookabach calendar:

1) Go to https://manage.bookabach.co.nz and log in.
2) If you have more than one property, select the property you wish to edit.
3) Navigate to Settings > Property Settings and scroll down to Calendar import/export
4) Click the Edit Calendar Settings button.
5) Copy the Export URL (in red) and follow the instructions from your external calendar provider in order to import.

Note: The Export feed will export Confirmed bookings that originate on the Bookabach platform (via your listing) and your manually-added bookings.

Importing an external calendar

To set up an import from an external calendar:

1) Go to https://manage.bookabach.co.nz and log in.
2) If you have more than one property, select the property you wish to edit.
3) Navigate to Settings > Property Settings and scroll down to Calendar import/export
4) Click the Edit Calendar Settings button.
5) In the Import Feeds section, select +Add calendar import.
6) Give the calendar a name and enter the external calendar URL.
7) Click the Save

NOTE: Recurring calendar events are not supported.

Bookabach refreshes external iCalendar feeds every 15 minutes, so new external feeds will be picked up then, or you can manually update the feed in the Calendar Imports section of the Settings > Property Settings > Edit Calendar Settings page.

Once this feed is imported, the bookings will be added to your calendar and will reflect in availability when a traveller is searching for a property.

Owners can disable, edit, delete or manually refresh their external calendars at will.

As an Owner, you can view iCalendar bookings alongside regular bookings in the “Bookings” section of your property account.  You can distinguish them due to the “Status” column having a black background and showing as BLOCKED, and “iCalendar Booking” showing in the “For” column along with which external calendar it comes from.

If you wish to edit an iCalendar booking, you will need to do so on the platform or program the booking originated from.
